GLH Architects believe in a holistic approach
to sustainable design which is embraced by all –
the developer, client, project team and end user.
Every aspect of the design must be carefully
considered to be efficient, from the selection
of the site to the choice of the light bulbs. The
ultimate objective is the wellbeing, comfort and
health of the occupants which is conducive to
increased productivity.

the implementation of pioneering technology
such as the floor-to-ceiling triple glazed facades
which provide spectacular 360 degree views
of Johannesburg. Clear glass maximises the
natural light projected into the deep space, but
there is of course a downside to such extensive
exposure. A ‘responsive’ unitised facade system
was developed over 12 months in collaboration
with German experts to control heat, glare and
sunlight. A single outer skin and double-glazed
inner panel envelops a sealed air-conditioned
cavity. Motorised custom-designed aluminium
blinds housed within the cavity have a dual
purpose of harvesting light by reflecting it
