Standard Bank of South Africa’s Johannesburg Campus
A
t the edge of Rosebank’s urban district, a new landmark has emerged - the stylish
new addition to the Standard Bank of South Africa’s Johannesburg Campus. The
65,000m2 office complex, known as 30 Baker Street, will house a workforce of 5,000
in two large footprint buildings of nine and eleven floors connected by a generous central
glass atrium. The expansive glazed skin of the structure blurs the boundaries between inside
and outside, emulating Standard Bank’s core value of transparency and connecting people.
Accessible to the public, a hectare of landscaped piazza provides a pleasant approach to the
entrance and a green breakaway environment above a super basement of 5 parking levels.
Design Vision
When construction started in 2010, Grosskopff Lombart Huyberechts Architects’ vision was
to create a lasting, yet progressive, comfortable workplace for their forward thinking client.
Passive design principles and world-class technology have been integrated in every facet
and the project has since been awarded a 5-Star GBCSA Greenstar design rating and is on
