MLC Quantity Surveyors
M
LC is a long established and respected
Quantity Surveying consultancy in South
Africa and internationally. In view of MLC’s
relationship with and support of the
publication over many years, Architect &
Builder approached MLC to become the
first construction industry consultancy to be covered in our new
regular feature Company Watch.
In acceptance of this accolade, Group CEO, Mike Stricker
noted the honour for MLC to be both recognised and featured
in a magazine which has established a track record of being the
benchmark for professionalism in the industry.
While considering the key points for this article, Stricker
stressed that a company is defined by its past, while recognised
for its current profile in the industry.
Company History
MLC was founded in Johannesburg in 1936 by Brian McIntosh
and traded under the name GB McIntosh. During its 78 years
of existence, it later traded as Brian McIntosh & Latilla, then
McIntosh Latilla & Carrier and finally McIntosh Latilla Carrier &
Laing. With the intent of developing a company brand going
forward, the company name was changed to MLC Quantity
Surveyors in 2006.
The company was originally founded primarily on mining
industry projects. When Kim Latilla joined the company in
1958, he added a new focus on commercial sector projects.
Mike Carrier joined MLC in 1970 and reinforced these efforts
with MLC becoming recognised market leaders in the retail
industry. This was anchored by Pick ‘n Pay’s expansion around
the country, as well as in the corporate / commercial offices
PORTO NOVI MONTENEGRO – Situated on the spectacular Boka Bay in Montenegro, this is one of the largest tourism related projects
currently under construction in Europe, comprising a luxury spa resort, residential villas, apartments and a super yacht marina.
