LIGHTING & ELECTRICAL CONSULTANT’S COMMENT Shopping malls have traditionally presented a static lighting installation, which is purely functional. At Blue Route we wanted to create changing lighting scenes and make use of Blue Route Mall extensive layering in conjunction with the ceiling architecture. The major challenge within the mall was to ensure a high light level throughout the various areas of the mall, while maintaining energy efficiency. In order to achieve this, various lighting systems had to be implemented to deal with the very different cross section details throughout the mall. The bulk of the ground floor areas are lit by means of metal halide downlighters, which provide the general lighting.
