AFRICAN DESIGN GETS AN ITALIAN VENEER
African architects and designers are giving local projects and interiors an Italian
veneer following the introduction of Tabu’s decorative dyed and reconstituted veneers
(certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)) in South Africa.
Offering a fashionable alternative to natural wood species, Tabu’s veneers provide
architects with both classical solutions and fashionable proposals for uniquely exciting
design possibilities.
Their extensive range of multilaminar woods (MW) provides the ideal structures,
patterns and shades for the most up-to-date interior design. The use of veneers already
considerably reduces the total volume of solid wood used, therefore reducing tree
felling operations, with the company sourcing its raw material from environmentally
friendly origins.
Tabu’s new MW ECOZERO range offer certified sustainability and non-toxicity as
they are manufactured using 100% FSC Pure wood and formaldehyde free glues.
The FSC trademark identifies products containing wood which comes from wellmanaged forests, according to strict environmental, social and economic standards.
The exclusiveness of these “new woods” is to be found in their composition: they
are created from thin sheets of different wooden species which are first dyed one by
one, then made up and finally assembled. This way we obtain solid wood from which
it is possible to slice veneers. The end product is wood in all aspects, with perfectly
consistent structure, sound absorption and visual intensity for a uniquely striking
design statement.
