PARK CENTRAL - ICONIC NEW RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT FOR ROSEBANK
Park Central, a groundbreaking luxury
high-rise residential apartment block, is
being developed by Redefine Properties
in Rosebank, Johannesburg
This 445-unit residential development,
being built on the corner of Baker Street
and Keyes Avenue, revisits the concept of
living in the city with its attendant benefits
of parks and public transport.
The building will be set adjacent to
an existing park and forms part of an
integrated urban precinct, with a vision to
include pedestrian links through the parks
to the Gautrain Station through the Mall.
Much energy has been invested in the
design of the units and of the project as
an urban insertion and its relation to the
context and public transport. One public
internal passage will service 3 residential
floors, with apartments spread over 2
floors to create a sense of space and light.
The design is strongly influenced by
French-Swiss architect Le Corbusier who
between 1931 and 1933, developed the
concept of ‘The Radiant City’. Le Corbusier
suggested that city planning and building
design should always consider the sun,
sky, trees, steel and cement in that order
of importance.
