powerful economic instrument of its own
lease in order to be applied to its own capital
asset. Chevron would sell off the valuable
Foreshore building upon occupation of the
Century City site, which realised value would
vastly offset the cost of the state-of-the art
new headquarters. Chevron resolved to
develop its own property for its ultimate use
and benefit.
Design Concept
The striking primary form is characterised
by a perimeter block typology. This decision
was taken to create, on the one hand, a
tranquil space in its centre but, on the
other, to reinforce the street line and make
an urban statement in a suburban context.
