have been mentioning (with some trepidation) when asked to write the odd
editorial for my mother, Diana, that the thought of taking over from her filled
me with something akin to terror. Not terror in the “armed gunmen are out
to get me” kind of way, but certainly more than the mild sense of panic I felt
before an exam at university or before I have root canal.
That being said, I waved my mother and editor off with a great deal of pleasure
– no one deserves the opportunity to put her feet up for a bit more than Diana.
She has been at the helm of the magazine for a long time now. Virtually every
waking moment was spent working, whether chasing up professionals for text
and photographs or attempting to convince people that they should advertise
or looking for interesting projects to feature – the list goes on. Her work ethic is
unsurpassed, her dedication unmatched.
