The back wall of the reception desk features another key design element, a bespoke
3D printed concrete tile, imported from KAZA Concrete of Budapest, to add a subtle hint
of texture and sophistication. All the furniture was also imported with the exception of
the restaurant. Here Trend Group has advocated a celebration of local talent and design.
Oracle was given creative freedom in the interior layout and design of the restaurant
area. Furniture was sourced from South Africa’s top talent, including Dokter and Missus,
Houtlander, Widd Design, Pedersen and Lennard, etc. Also featured is a local beaded
pendant and a once-off Renee Rossouw wallpaper design that is exceptional.
The client also had strict lux requirements for the different areas of the fit-out, ranging
from operational (white light) to ambient conditions (wall lights) in the collaborative
spaces and other private and breakaway areas. The lighting installation is also future-
proofed in that it is integrated into the Building Management System (BMS).
Trend, together with RWP Taemane, carried out a lux calculation for each floor to
ensure that all client requirements were adhered to. Pendants were also incorporated,
especially in the collaboration areas, which served the dual purpose of lighting and
