MCCORMICK PROPERTY
DEVELOPMENT
COMMENCES WORK AT
MALL OF TEMBISA
McCormick Property Development
has
commenced
work
on
its
iconic Mall of Tembisa. The initial
dolomite assessments undertaken
indicated
pockets
of
dolomite
which resulted in further assess-
ments and pre-drilling of the site.
Designed by MDS Architects, the
shopping centre will be located
in
the
under-serviced
north-
western quadrant of Tembisa, on
Olifantsfontein Road. The project
is being undertaken in conjunction
with
KJA
Developments.
As
specialists in low cost housing,
KJA will add the high-density
residential components to what
will ultimately be a mixed-use
development,
including
logistic
and commercial developments.
The mall has been designed to
take advantage of its excellent
visibility off the main road, without
turning its back on the surrounding
residential
suburbs.
Rainwater
harvesting and solar panels will be
contributing factors in developing
the mall to world class standards.
The mall brings quality retail
facilities to an area which currently
has
few
shopping
amenities.
The rights exist to expand the
retail portion to 80,000m 2 . “We
are excited to get going on this
phase of the project as it takes
us one step closer in our goal
of delivering top class retail to
SABLE CORNER, BRIDGEWAYS PRECINCT, CENTURY CITY
Rabie Property Group has commenced construction on Sable Corner, adding another
premier office address in the flourishing Bridgeways Precinct at Century City.
Designed by dhk Architects, Sable Corner will feature a curved façade facing Sable
Road, with some design elements, such as its vertical fins, drawing parallels with it’s
neighbour Sable Park.
Rising five floors above two basement parking levels, Sable Corner continues along
Sable Road, maximising its exposure and ensuring its inhabitants of uninterrupted views
towards Table Mountain and the city.
The ground floor – ideally suited for showroom space – will experience views linking
directly with a landscaped border between the building and Sable Road. The main
entrance lobby is on the opposite side, opening onto the visitors’ parking. Views towards
the northeast will, in time, include the redeveloped Ratanga Junction, which will retain
a strong focus on water and soft landscaping.
Linking the city with decentralised suburban areas, Century City has become the
preferred home for many corporate Head Quarters and Sable Corner is ideally designed
for this purpose, with an overall lettable area of approximately 6,500m 2 prime grade
office space. Sable Corner’s ground to third floors range from 900m 2 to 1,500m 2 , with a
roof deck offering an executive entertainment opportunity or spectacular function area.
A fully glazed circulation staircase and lift lobby will link the convex shaped section
of the building to a rectangular appendix, allowing for economical office design without
compromising on the wow factor or the future-focused design elements unique to the
building. Sable Corner will have ample parking in its two basements, with additional
parking available within easy walking distance.
Rabie Property Group is committed to developing green buildings and will be aiming
for a minimum rating of a 4-star Green Building on this development.
previously under serviced areas,”
says Managing Director, Jason
McCormick. The 42,889m 2 mall
will be MPD’s largest development
to date and is scheduled to open in
the last quarter of 2020.
