with a slatted wooden ceiling detail, an organic shaped reception unit on marble- look porcelain tiles and unique feature lights installed on the wall behind the reception desk. Coffee is served to clients and employees from an imported Marzocco, copper coloured coffee machine, on a stone counter with a choice between two soft seating areas – one being an informal lounge placed on custom designed wool rugs and the other, a white dining table with Martin Ballendat’s beautiful Up chairs. The Executive boardroom houses a rectangular shaped timber meeting room table, coupled with Dauphin’s elegant, white Riola chair and black metal Geneva pendant lights from Spazio. Bespoke timber and black glass desks made by Horn Contracts, set the scene in the executive wing, enhanced with leather seating and complimented with striking, geometric wallpapers and Interface’s Composure carpet tiles. Great care was taken to make sure the team offices received the same quality finishes as the rest of the installation with frameless glass and high density filing units that were clad in timber to add to the elegant ambience and custom designed furniture. The staff café was designed for easy use where employees can gather informally around a stone, bar height SA Centres table set over a solid, European oak timber floor that is finished with Lova Pretone black, HS impact oil. This dark inset floor juxtaposed with the crisp marble porcelain tiles, warm timber detailing and leather covered soft seating, offers variety in this communal area. Space Planning Careful space planning accommodated natural circulation and flow between business units. Team offices were designed with adequate storage space and their own printing facilities for ease of use. Coffee stops and bathrooms were planned for the core of the building so as to be easily accessible to employees and to prevent blocking off of natural light. The staff café is enclosed to contain noise and food smells. It is strategically placed in the between the team offices to create a central hub, and to encourage the cross-pollination of knowledge and idea-sharing. The café is also designed to accommodate informal meetings as well as staff functions. 81
