F
ounded in 1852, Premier has recently undergone a series of
changes, expanding from its traditional milling and baking
business into other industries with the intention to become a
leading FMCG player. Premier took the opportunity to revamp its
corporate identity at the same time. No longer simply a food
company, Premier has dropped the Food suffix and shortened its
trading name to just Premier.
New Identity and Offices
The new identity, along with new headquarters in Waterfall City
designed by dhk, is the embodiment of these changes. “We are all
about growing together – our employees, our shareholders, our
customers and, above all, the community in which we live”
says Premier’s CEO, Tjaart Kruger. Premier’s strategic intent and

brand promise of growing together, is reflected in the updated
corporate identity, and this was carried across to the design of the
new office space.
The office move was necessary to accommodate a quickly
growing team, with a more diverse portfolio. dhk carried out a
detailed space analysis at the then existing Isando offices, to
accurately gauge requirements for the new space and accommodate plans for future growth. Based on this information, a building
was found for Premier in the Maxwell Office Park, a green
development in Johannesburg’s Waterfall City.
“The move to the new offices came at a time when the business
had not only grown out of the old premises, but also when we
needed to adjust to the new strategy and broader industry
participation,” said Kruger.
