COMMERCIAL OFFICE DEVELOPMENT - MERIT OTHER DEVELOPMENTS - MERIT Alice Lane Phase 2 Hatfield Studios Alice Lane is a landmark development situated on the corner of Alice Lane and Fifth Street in the heart of Sandton. The development consists of three new iconic office towers surrounding a central, ‘streetscaped’ piazza. In total, approximately 70,000m2 of premium grade rentable office space is being created in the three towers. A common design language binds the three buildings. Materiality, however, has been varied across the buildings. Unitised aluminium panels are used predominantly on the façades of building 1 and 2 but building 3 will be a full glass façade. The champagne-coloured aluminium cladding panels on building 2 appear to change shade in various light conditions, giving the building a life-like quality. The completion of the second building in the Alice Lane trilogy brings the vision of three iconic buildings surrounding a distinctive piazza closer to being realised. The goal for the development of Hatfield Studios was to provide world class, unrivalled accommodation in an environment conducive to students’ academic studies and lifestyle. Developed by the Feenstra Group and designed by Boogertman + Partners, Hatfield Studios offers security and student orientated design with the best location, providing accommodation on the doorstep of the University of Pretoria.
