Hot and cold water is also provided to all tea kitchens as per the tenants layouts and metered to control the water usage. Structural Challenges The geometry of the sloping brickwork required an unconventional solution to ensure that the angled brickwork is structurally stable. The structural solution was a series of dummy concrete columns and brickwork nibs that follow the line of the façade. These mock columns 85 Grayston formed the structural elements to which the brickwork was then secured and the tops of the walls were tied back into the soffits. This solution resulted in time and costs savings as a result of not casting all the sloping elements in concrete. The geometry also led to challenges with the mechanically fixed façade tiling, in aligning tiles positioned on a vertical surface with the tiles located on a sloping surface.
