Diamond Walk is a reconfiguration of the original link between the hotel and the mall, which was always considered to be secondary and not sufficiently retail-orientated The design criteria for Sandton City has always focused on that full height, vertical expression and it is enhanced at Diamond Walk, as the tenants have all bought into the design concept. Individual shop front designs speak to the European trends for street-side shop fronts which have windows in solid walls, enticing shoppers to enter and experience the brand. The high end brands create private and personal experiences inside their stores which are not visible from the outside. Prada’s newly opened store at Diamond Walk is billed as the largest in the world at 800m2. Other brands include Louis Vuitton, Giorgio 62 Armani, Gucci, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Dolce & Gabbana and the Arque Champagne Crescent and Billionaire Italian Couture. Champagne Bar Diamond Walk culminates at the entrance to the hotel with a champagne bar – an ultimate excuse for shoppers to linger and enjoy a differentiation of experience between retail and hospitality.
