Shop fronts in Diamond Walk
are higher than those of the
typical Sandton City mall at
5.0m in height
full-height walls, doors and their own extraction.
Shelves are provided for handbags, keys, cell
phones and other items. The vanities at SC are
treated as a trough to ensure that any water
splashes end up down the drain and not on the
vanity, thus upsetting the experience.
Colour Palette
The mall is white and clean, forming a canvas
for the individual shop fronts. While referencing
the diamond, the mall design is understated
enough not to overshadow the retail. “We must

Design Challenge
Diamond Walk is a reconfiguration of the original
link between the hotel and the mall, which was
always considered to be secondary and not
sufficiently retail-orientated. As a result, the
retail offering always struggled. The new mall
was pursued to improve the link between
Sandton City and its 5-star hotels and
conference/convention centre, while at the
Diamond Walk
