Construction has commenced with a new flagship dealership for Jaguar Land Rover South Africa that provides showroom space for over 80 cars, the largest one of its kind in the world. An expansive basement workshop boasts state-of-the-art service technology aimed at optimising customer experience. The clean, modern design of the Jaguar Land Rover showroom interior is a testament to the core values of the brand. Exciting Y-shaped columns open up the showroom floor, and create an impressive double-volume in which new cars are displayed. Above the dealership is an office building of 20,000m² of A-grade commercial space. The concept for this unique design relies on a faceted building envelope, intended to visually break the building into thin, elegant slivers of glass. This way, the building disappears into the sky, and its massing appears deceptively slender. The façades float past each other and don’t touch at corner junctions. This effect further enhances the delicacy of the tapering building mass, and bolsters the illusion of the glazing ‘skins’ hovering away from the building structure.
