Irecently took a trip to the UK to visit my daughter whilst she is on a gap year there . We did quite a bit of driving around the UK , spending time as far north as Scotland . It ’ s always interesting to view another country through new eyes , where everything is so different and it ’ s hard not to compare what you see with how things are in South Africa .

To be honest , despite all our own issues here , I came home with a new appreciation for the many good things we do right as a country and the open spaces that allow for new development and the opportunity to express ourselves in unique South African style .

I can appreciate the friendliness of our people and the ‘ make a plan ’ attitude when life is challenging . I can appreciate our creativity and the vibrancy of our communities that shines through in our world class architecture and interiors . Life is colourful here in so many ways and it makes us more resilient and exciting at the same time .
