Inhouse Design Studio was recently appointed to carry out the interior design and fit out of Dimension Data ’ s new Cape Town offices in Claremont .
Brief Working with an empty shell over a number of floors , the design brief was to take into account Dimension Data ’ s global IT brand presence . The space was to convey a forward-thinking modernity and also allow for flexibility within the floorplan as the business adapts and grows . A number of departments sharing one space required the ability to accommodate different group sizes and stimulate collaboration within a variety of seating and meeting venues . It was also important that in the post- Covid work environment staff felt that their work environment was warm and inviting and was a space that they looked forward to working in .
The Space The offices are spread over a number of floors within the eight-storey building . Dimension Data occupies the ground and first floors as well as floors six , seven and eight . One of the requirements within the brief was to ensure continuity and cohesion between the different floors . The ground and first floors are used mainly for storage and operations , with the design required to be practical and logistically efficient . The upper floors house a variety of diverse departments ranging from finance to technology . The eighth floor accommodates the social spaces such as a canteen and bar . This is where staff congregate for social events ranging from casual Friday night drinks to group strategy sessions . A variety of meeting rooms and leisure areas allow for a range of interactions . There are also two kitchens suited to both behind-the-scenes event prep and more open food presentation on the main floor .
