Regent Works with Design Team on DALRRD

Regent Lighting Solutions was approached to assist with the design of the majority of the lights for the Department of Agriculture , Land Reform & Rural Development ( DALRRD ).

Regent worked closely with RWP Electrical Consultants , Boogertman + Partners Architects as well as Planning + Design Consultants on the lighting design . Once the design was complete we were contracted to supply and , in most instances due to the complexity , install the lights .

This was a particularly interesting project . The site was the Old Pretoria Cricket Ground , where all first-class matches were played prior to the Centurion Cricket Ground being established .
The main buildings were designed by Boogertman + Partners Architects , and have been built on what was the original Oval . In the main buildings internal atriums , Regent supplied and installed 500m of Strata continuous lighting system . Regent also designed , supplied and installed 800m of complex façade strip lighting . In addition , the Vala façade accent lights were used to up-light the main entrance façade .
For the interior of the main office buildings , we supplied the curved recessed Linear Strata lighting system . The Shuttle double wall light in the main entrance and Linear lights under the atrium stairs . A complex-shaped Linear Strata was designed to hang above the podium of the main auditorium as well as Miso footlights on the stairs .
The Argo amenity light was used throughout the very extensive car parks , gardens and pedestrian pathways of the development . Some of the Argo poles were also designed to mount security cameras . Geo bulkhead and Nimbus fittings were supplied to the main gate house entrance building .
The old clubhouse has been restored as a Heritage Building and was designed by heritage architects , Planning + Design Consultants . Although we could not duplicate the original lights , the lights supplied were sympathetic to the original design . The first , a bespoke ceilingmounted chandelier , epitomises elegance with its contemporary design comprising four slender rods adorned with opulent opaque balls . The fixture pays homage to the building ’ s storied past while seamlessly embracing contemporary aesthetics . The soft , golden hue casts a warm and inviting glow , elegantly marrying the charm of yesteryear with the chic sophistication of today . These bespoke chandeliers were installed in the main hall and the old mouldings were highlighted with bespoke Sage double wall lights and track spots . A second bespoke luminaire was also installed on special columns that run the height of the three-storey staircase . The bespoke Cluster fitting effortlessly combines form and function as it emanates a gentle illumination both upwards and downwards , bathing the surrounding stairs in a soft , embracing light . Ultimately , these two bespoke luminaires are more than mere lighting fixtures ; they encapsulate the very spirit of the heritage building ’ s renovation and reflect the culmination of an inspired collaboration that pays homage to the building ’ s history .
In addition , the Picasso luminaire was supplied in entrance lobbies of the Heritage building . The Echo fitting was used on the exterior of the building and on the columns of the steel pergola which defines a 40m walkway running to the south of the building . The Echo lights not only highlight the columns but form defined ‘ pools ’ of light on the walkway . www . regentlight . co . za
