LOCAL ARTIST LEAVES HIS MARK WITH BOLD MURALS
Resoborg is an artist whose creativity blossomed from a sense of boredom and limited opportunities . His unique perspective and passion for alternative cultures led him to explore the world of street art , murals , and personal artworks . Despite facing challenges and a lack of formal artistic education , Resoborg ’ s talent and dedication have propelled him to international recognition .
Resoborg ’ s journey as an artist began with his graduation in 2003 , earning a B-Tech Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration . However , due to limited opportunities in the art industry , he initially pursued a career in advertising , encouraged by his father . It was during this time that his interest in skateboarding and alternative cultures opened his eyes to a different way of perceiving buildings – not just works of art in concrete but obstacles to use to skateboard on ! However this helped him to start looking at the world differently .
Since 2010 , Resoborg has dedicated himself to being a full-time artist , balancing his artistic pursuits with commercial illustration work . His commitment to his craft has led to numerous exhibitions across South Africa and mural commissions in various locations worldwide . Notable projects include mural commissions in Finland , Virginia , New York , Auckland , and Addis Ababa , showcasing his versatility and ability to adapt his art to different environments and cultures . In 2015 , he received a prestigious invitation to represent South Africa and create an artwork at Queens College in New York City .
This piece now resides in their permanent collection , proudly displayed in their public library .
In addition to Resoborg ’ s impressive body of work , it is worth mentioning some specific mural commissions and collaborations he has undertaken . Resoborg has had the privilege of working on mural commissions at Rosebank Mall in Johannesburg . His artistic vision and skill were showcased in these projects , adding a touch of creativity and vibrancy to the mall ’ s surroundings .
Between 2020 and 2023 , Resoborg was selected to paint murals in over 40 new look Chicken Licken Drive Thru ’ s . These collaborations allowed him to bring his unique artistic style to these locations , enhancing the visual appeal and creating a memorable experience for customers .
