The Ridge was designed to meet and to exceed the accommodation requirements of global consulting giant Deloitte , which commissioned the building as its Cape Town regional office .
The site forms the main connection between Dock Road on the main route to the original parts of the V & A Waterfront and Portswood Road , which runs just outside the north-western boundary of the property . Along Portswood Road , the Ridge will form the apex of a new waterfront zone , dubbed the Portswood District , a green development forming a natural linkage to the Greenpoint Fringe of the Atlantic Seaboard . The Ridge offers a GLA of over 8,500m 2 and consists of four stories of office accommodation and three basement parking levels .
SUSTAINABLE VISION The Ridge and the adjacent emerging district development realises the V & A Waterfront ’ s development vision of creating sustainable buildings . The vision , termed ‘ Our Normal ’, will raise the bar on new office block developments not only in the V & A Waterfront , but countrywide . The Ridge has been designed as a world-class living , breathing building that will enhance the reputation of both the V & A Waterfront and Deloitte as market leaders .
Cape Town ’ s newest 6-star Green Star Design awarded commercial building , The Ridge , deploys some of the most advanced sustainable building technology available globally , as well as original blue-sky thinking . It was born from the V & A Waterfront ’ s vision to set new standards for the future of commercial office buildings . The final
The ‘ zig zag ’ façade is one of the development ’ s key sustainability features - the shape reduces solar gain into the building , and the opening windows are needed to allow for the natural ventilation of the office floors
