EDITORIAL
Well , I am sure everyone
is heaving a sigh of relief that this ‘ annus horribilis ’ is nearly over . Even if we are still not out of the woods by a long shot , somehow saying goodbye to 2020 and welcoming a new year fills one with more optimism . If you are a believer in astrology you will know that the planet enters the Age of Aquarius on December 21st . This new age is supposed to herald in a time of renewal and greater consciousness , bringing with it a more positive energy . Believer or not , I ’ ll take it as a positive sign !
Despite the trials and tribulations of 2020 , I have been amazed , that despite adversity , our industry has worked like crazy to catch up on their projects , start new ones and submit plans for stunning future projects .
2021 marks the 70th anniversary of Architect and Builder Magazine . Started by Laurie Wale in 1951 , we have published over 500 issues , covering the best of South African architecture . I look forward to taking a retrospective journey over the course of the next year , looking at some of the most important buildings and design styles over this period .
I would like to thank everyone for their continued support and wish you all the best for 2021 .
