Brief Madombidzha Mall is the 83rd development by rural and township retail development experts MPD . The brief was to create a retail destination of choice while integrating the unique cultural and environmental aspects of the area .
Entrance Two angular steel entrance structures provide a beacon of identity for shoppers whether they are travelling off the main taxi and bus routes or visiting the centre in their own vehicles .
Pretorius says , “ The prominent walkway and covered entrance are punctuated by two striking steel column structures in vibrant colours that seem to hold up the overhead roof . Elements of the angular structure – a play on the letter M – are duplicated along the covered walkway of the shopping centre .”
The building features contemporary clean lines in a neutral colour palette , marked by the bright green steel structures . Lighting has been used to emphasise the V-shaped form of the two angular steel structures at the entrance .
An eye-catching hand painted mural was inspired by the nearby Madombidzha village mountain range ( part of the Soutpansberg ) and the meaning of the word ‘ Madombidzha ’ ( the place of the three-legged pot ).
Tenant Mix Madombidzha Mall houses a diverse mix of national retailers , catering to the various needs of the local population . Key tenants include Shoprite ,
