The design of every element in the mall was
tested to ensure it enhanced the experience of
the atrium. The floor tiling concept, ceiling design,
lighting design and concourse circulation and
pause areas are all part of a dialogue that together
enhances the character of the atrium. The line
stores’ shopfront design was considered as a
neutral element and secondary to the experience
of the central atrium on one hand and the tenants’
store designs on the other.
The materiality of the interior palette works
in antithesis to the colourful exterior. Neutral
tones and textures are used throughout and are
consciously reminiscent of the beach just down
Centre Point
the road. The intention was to select a calming
palette that would allow the central atrium and
store fit outs to shine.
Residential Component
The top two residential floors are setback from
the retail façade below and, while sympathetic to
the geometric form and architectural language of
the building as a whole, are consciously different
in their massing and materiality.
The set back provides residents with
generous and livable outdoor spaces for each
apartment while ensuring privacy and some
acoustic mitigation from the busy streets below.
