Traditional , solid materials are revisited to make an optimistic new edifice that is both Ancient and Modern . No less than four levels of basement parking add at least another 6,000m ² to the gross built area .
“ The Citadel ” makes a dramatic new edifice of seeming opulence in the heart of Cape Town ’ s clean and verdant southern suburbs - but wealth managers and their private clients are , by reputation , prudent and frugal characters .
It has therefore come as a surprise to the local development industry , that all 12,000m ² of “ The Citadel ” were constructed for a modest R130m , converting to less than $ 10m USD , and equating to a construction cost of just over R10,000 / m ² - at a time when developers are struggling to even build for between R15,000 - R20,000 / m ².
“ The Citadel ” rises to nearly 30m in height and is developed by Citadel Investment Services in joint venture with savvy national property magnates , Atterbury , and landowners , Catalyst . The contractor is Stabilid Cape .
