“ The Citadel” makes a dramatic new edifice of seeming opulence in the heart of Cape Town’ s clean and verdant southern suburbs- but wealth managers and their private clients are, by reputation, prudent and frugal characters.
It has therefore come as a surprise to the local development industry, that all 12,000m ² of“ The Citadel” were constructed for a modest R130m, converting to less than $ 10m USD, and equating to a construction cost of just over R10,000 / m ²- at a time when developers are struggling to even build for between R15,000- R20,000 / m ².
“ The Citadel” rises to nearly 30m in height and is developed by Citadel Investment Services in joint venture with savvy national property magnates, Atterbury, and landowners, Catalyst. The contractor is Stabilid Cape.
