Design Brief
The brief and scope to the architects was to design a
10,000m 2 state-of-the-art industrial manufacturing
facility whilst celebrating the African heritage in a
contemporary manner. Access to the runway at
Wonderboom Airport was essential. The building
had to be built within a tight construction time, not
be costly in terms of long-term maintenance and a
modular design was favoured by the client in order

to effortlessly duplicate the design elsewhere once
the company expands abroad.
The programme and accommodation of an
aircraft manufacturing plant required the full
understanding of the aircraft, the process of the
design and the production lines.
The Assembly facility required the provision
for an aircraft assembly line with the capacity
to lift one aircraft above and over the other by
