The architects design amazing buildings and the construction firms ensure that design becomes reality. The end product acts as the best showcase of their work when published in print or online – if it’s photographed well. I don’t have the budget to commission individual shoots of each project we feature so I rely mainly on images being supplied to me. It is to everyone’s advantage that projects looks as visually impressive as possible and we go out of our way to design features that will take advantage of quality images supplied. Some firms understand the value of a good image and see commissioning a shoot as an investment – others don’t. I am unfortunately not a fan of the practice employed by many photographers of only including a limited number of shots in their quotes, with any further images being charged separately. This practice works out to be expensive and results in a very limited selection that restricts the scope of features.
