KBAC Vanguard LVTs in Demand at Waterfall Estate KBAC Flooring’s new luxury vinyl tile range, The Vanguard Collection, is proving extremely popular with designers of both commercial and residential projects in Waterfall Estate, one of Africa’s biggest urban developments now underway at Midrand, between Johannesburg and Pretoria. Dave Keefer, Business Development Manager at KBAC’s Johannesburg operations, says Vanguard LVTs have been specified for several new stores in the Mall of Africa, SA’s largest shopping mall yet built in a single phase, which is the focal point of the Waterfall Estate. The 130,000m2 mall is home to over 300 local and international stores, of which many are flagship outlets. “Furthermore, The Vanguard Collection has been specified for 72 new residential units at The Sheds @ Waterfall, a prestige rental housing project with luxury two-level dwellings showcased at a major Home Expo in July. This new Century Property Developments precinct, overlooking the Mall of Africa, is an exciting addition to the fast-growing Waterfall Estate which has become Gauteng’s emerging ‘style district’ with homes that feature breathtaking architecture and design trends,” Keefer stated. K BAC Flooring will supply and install around 6,000m 2 of Vanguard Nature’s Look ‘’Bleached Pine’’ for the upstairs living areas of all the units at The Sheds @ Waterfall. The new range is made from virgin vinyl which eliminates the potential health hazards of recycled PVC. There are dangers in the recycling of PVC because the plastic contains a large amount of chlorine. When recycled or remanufactured, it can lead to the release of highly dangerous toxins, so KBAC opted for the safer, virgin option. Vanguard Nature’s Look heavy-duty residential range features eight colours with a natural wooden look. “Nature’s KBAC Flooring’s The Vanguard Collection LVTs installed at a luxury residential unit at The Sheds @ Waterfall and also in one of the new Mall of Africa stores in Midrand, Johannesburg Look, which is 2mm thick, will be available as a standard, non-registered embossed LVT with patterns on the wear (top) layers of the planks that imitate wood. This residential range features durable, robust wear layers of 0.3mm - the thickest yet available for this application from KBAC. The planks, with a width of 230mm and length of 1.2 metres, are also substantially bigger than previously available from KBAC, which offers increased economy and a more realistic appearance. KBAC Flooring has now also launched a Parquet version to augment its Vanguard Collection which, the company believes, will be the first Parquet LVT available in SA. The 3x9 inch stick-down LVT planks with 0.55mm wear layer, are available in four colours. Parquet flooring, made from a variety of materials, is currently enjoying a global revival and KBAC expects the trend to follow locally. A KBAC slide card for buyers suggests four of unlimited Parquet Vanguard design options available for designers and home-owners.
