Accommodation Brief
The accommodation brief for The Yacht Club
was to provide for an AC Marriott Hotel with 188
rooms and associated front and back of house
facilities, 170 apartments varying in size and 40
small to medium sized office units totalling some
6,000m 2 . Parking was required for over 600 cars
in the basement levels covering the entire site and
linking into existing basements in the precinct.
The Yacht Club
Design
The ground and first floor of the building house the
hotel front and back of house as well as the office
component and create a podium on top of which,
set back behind planted terraces, are the hotel
rooms and apartments. The rooms and apartments
are divided into two towers. The taller on the west
and the shorter on the east are divided by an 18m
wide view corridor on the axis of Buitengracht
