especially the internal design of the various units
and bedrooms.
• The provision of optimal privacy for each student
in order to both enhance each student’s quality

pleasing building.
Access
Both the vehicular as well as the two pedestrian
entrances to the building are from William Street
to the west of the building. Special measures
were put in place in the design of the vehicle
Apartments on William
entrance in order to accommodate the limited
space available for the stacking of cars. William
Street, although a cul-de-sac, had to be upgraded,
and this requirement presented the opportunity
to incorporate the street in the design of the
building. Various green areas were provided in
the street, with the green areas directly linked
to the building, especially the main pedestrian
entrance-cum-cafeteria area, thus complementing
the building.
Based on studies during the design period a
vast number of built-in racks were provided for
the storage of bicycles, proving that the building
is a modern student facility.
