he brief for the CCB Headquarters was to create a pair of office buildings
that exuded excellence – both in their architectural ingenuity and the
distinctive quality in which they were built. After all, the buildings would be
a showcase of the client’s wealth of expertise and accomplishments in the built
environment industry.
The first of the two buildings was to accommodate Clear Choice Builder’s rapidly
expanding staff compliment of quantity surveyors, project managers and administrative
staff; the second would function as a visitors reception area, a centralised work hub,
the staff gym, the auditorium, and the executive wing, which was to include a self-
contained apartment.
Moreover, the development was to also include an upgrade to the existing main
entrance, suspension bridge and dam, and the entrance to the CEO’s private residence
which is located within the complex.
Site and Context
The site of the two buildings is situated east of Pretoria, in the Silverlakes area, and is
home to a complex of buildings, including the CEO’s private residence. The 5Ha site is
cradled on the south-west by the rugged Bronberge mountains, and slopes eastwards
down to a man-made dam fed by the Bronberge’s streams behind.
