y last editorial was a eulogy, of sorts, about my darling mum. Her
passing is still very raw and I wonder if it will ever be okay navigating
a world without this extraordinary woman who meant so much to
me. I apologise if I am using this next issue for pretty much the same
thing, but world politics (as terrifying as it is) has taken a backseat
in my life as a result of Diana’s death. It is astonishing how priorities and perspectives
shift when a momentous event, whether good or bad, occurs.
Despite the fact that I am struggling to come to terms with my mum’s death, I
have moments of amusement and fond recollection when I think of how she handled
numerous clients over the years. There are not many people who would feel totally at
ease calling the CEO of a major corporation “angel pie”! The nicest part of it all is that
said CEO formed a strong bond with my mother and the endearments went both ways!
My mum had a uniquely “Diana” turn of phrase, One particular phone call had both
my father and I in stitches as she called her bank to complain about some infringement
and, while talking to the hapless person on the other end of the phone, said, “The
bank is both proverbially and figuratively shaking its giant head”! I have never heard
anyone speak like this and am positive that the call agent had absolutely no idea what
Diana was saying!

by my father is that I am beginning to sound more and more like my mother. So, if I
speak to you on the phone and call you “darling” or use sentences like the one above,
please know that, thankfully, I have a great deal of my beloved mother in me and I
embrace all the eccentricities that go along with her legacy.
Despite not being fully present, the recent downgrading of our country to junk status
is something that did not escape my befuddled brain and I am filled with concern about
this. The marches and the fact that opposition parties are coming together in unity
against the corruption does bring some hope though.
I do hope you enjoy our latest issue. Louise has handled the bulk of it and in a
