Amazon Web Services( AWS) has once again underscored its commitment to sustainability with the use of MOSO Bamboo X-treme decking at its new Africa headquarters in Cape Town’ s Riverlands precinct.
This state-of-the-art facility, developed as a South African Green Star-rated building, aligns with AWS’ s global vision of reducing environmental impact while incorporating cutting-edge, eco-friendly materials and sets a benchmark for future corporate developments in Africa.
A key feature of this project is the extensive use of MOSO Bamboo X-treme decking and beams. As a rapidly renewable resource, bamboo grows significantly faster than hardwoods, requiring no replanting while absorbing large amounts of CO₂ during its growth cycle. Thanks to a high-density thermotreatment process, MOSO Bamboo X-treme achieves remarkable structural integrity, resisting warping, cracking, and weather-related deterioration. This bio-based material stands out for its superior hardness, stability, and durability. It outperforms conventional timber and plastic-composite decking in many important aspects, making it an ideal choice for the demanding conditions of an outdoor commercial space.
This flagship project also marked a new milestone in the long-standing relationship between MOSO Africa and Master Decks. Around 2,000m 2 of MOSO X-treme decking is installed in this project, and the complex technical requirements of the installation, together with demanding project timelines and finances, meant that a highly competent installation contractor was essential.
