The Trade Boutique Hotel offers 50 unique rooms, a restaurant and a rooftop pool and bar, all housed in a post-modern building, steeped in nostalgic attention to detail on trendy Shortmarket Street in the heart of Cape Town’ s CBD.

Development Background Originally called Commerce House, the building had become run-down and was originally identified by Rawson Developers for acquisition as a building that could be renovated and converted into apartments. During the years-long acquisition process the development team identified the potential to adapt the building into a small, uniquely styled boutique hotel in an area of the city centre that was becoming a lively neighbourhood filled with coffee shops, bars and restaurants. The idea was to emulate the look and feel of a Wes Anderson movie and two years were spent working on the design concept, resulting in a unique hotel design previously unseen in Cape Town. The rooms also function as apartments, with fully equipped kitchens, thus creating options for both short term stays as well as longer term bookings.
