Message from Artistic Director
For this year’s Research & Development platform,
RAW Moves will be visiting a larger clutter of
islands found within our neighboring countries
by conceptualiser Kiran Kumar (India).
Archipelago Archives Exhibit #3: If I could
set with the sun, is part of an ongoing 2-year
research project that aims to reinvent dances
found along an imaginary archipelago in the
Indian Ocean, somewhere between India and
Indonesia.
As part of Kiran’s 5-week residency and to
deepen this realisation, our company dancers
took a site study to Surakarta, Central Java.
This allowed them to excavate and archive their
examination for this work.
