As a result of recent history
of deterministic science, our
contemporary urban culture is one of
rationalism; dominated by modes of
‘causative’ thinking.
Today, by their very nature, artistic
ways of working often present a
counter-proposal to this dominant
culture by engaging with modes of
‘associative’ thinking.
Perhaps this is why the artist may
respond with a ‘why not?’
