Independent lubricant manufacturer Fuchs Lubricants South Africa ( SA ) recently launched its newly built head office and warehouse in Isando , Johannesburg . The company has invested over R250 million in the expansion at its existing location , noting that this came in the wake of rapid growth in demand for its products in sub- Saharan Africa .
The Phase 1 expansion of its facilities consists of the new office complex and warehouse . Phase 2 , which is now being undertaken , will comprise of a new lubricants plant to bolster the company ’ s strong growth and expansion plans for the continent .
In 2019 Fuchs Lubricants SA purchased the adjacent stand to their existing operations ( Corner of Diesel and Isando roads , Isando ) and contracted DRA Global and architects GPD Studio to look at a design for a new blending plant , warehouse and administrative head office on the newly acquired land . The new stand had a series of old industrial buildings on it that for the most part were not salvageable in the new design concept .
Brief As a multinational company , Fuchs strives for maximum sustainability and a low carbon footprint . The design team surveyed and investigated the existing structures to see
The design solution involved retaining one smaller warehouse and office block , building a new , state-of-the-art warehoused packaging and distribution facility and a new head office administration building .
