EDITOR’ S CHOICE
A NEW DIMENSION IN GLASS BALUSTRADE DESIGN
CUSTOMISE YOUR GLASS BALUSTRADE WITH POSIGLAZE SIDE CLADDING
When designing an indoor or outdoor space, every detail contributes to the finished look. Colour is particularly important: the right tone can help a balustrade blend seamlessly with its surroundings or become a striking feature. Glass balustrades have traditionally been associated with silver hardware, while black has become increasingly popular in recent years. Side cladding now offers even more scope to tailor the appearance of a system to suit a wider design scheme.
What Is Side Cladding? Side cladding provides a simple way to customise the visible sides of a glass balustrade and coordinate them with the wider project. Integrated into the top bead, the side cladding clips onto one or both sides of the channel, changing its colour without the expense of colouring the entire balustrade channel. Compatible with both POSIglaze base mounted and side mounted channels, the cladding provides a straightforward, cost-effective solution.
A Choice of Finishes The available anodised aluminium finishes provide three distinctive options. Silver Brushed offers a clean, versatile appearance that works comfortably with many materials and colour palettes. Black Brushed creates a stronger contrast and complements contemporary schemes, especially where darker frames or fittings are already in use. For a warmer decorative accent, our new Brushed Brass finish introduces a richer tone that can coordinate with metallic details elsewhere in the space.
Custom Colour with Powder Coating Projects that call for a more individual finish can go further. Raw aluminium side cladding is available for powder coating in a RAL colour of your choice. This opens the door to close colour matching, subtle coordination or deliberate contrast, depending on the character of the project. It can echo exterior joinery on a home or help a new balustrade sit comfortably within an established interior.
By selecting a standard brushed finish or specifying a custom powder-coated colour, side cladding turns a functional detail into a considered design choice. The result is a glass balustrade that feels connected to the space around it and better reflects the style of the finished project.
