FIREFLY ® APOLLO SPEEDS FIRE PROTECTION AT PORT FACILITY
A fully compatible selection of FIREFLY ® barrier products was installed by trusted installer Krasi Fire Protection to protect an oil tank alongside a warehouse at London Gateway port during a rapid, nine-day contract completed just before Christmas.
Working on behalf of DP World and in consultation with the FIREFLY ® Technical Team, the Midlands-based FIREFLY ® Preferred Installer created a 25m-long vertical barrier with a four-metre drop. Four trained operatives worked from a cherry picker platform, installing FIREFLY ® Apollo Lite 30:30 alongside Penowrap, FB180 batts and ancillary materials.
Krasi Fire Protection Managing Director Krasimir Mitev said:“ This is the latest in a number of projects we have undertaken for DP World at London Gateway, with the client specifying FIREFLY ® systems based on their proven effectiveness and product certifications.
“ Working from the cherry picker, we used a‘ mule’ to position the barrier materials and made very good progress, finishing ahead of schedule on 9 December. Penowrap was used to protect the purlins, while
FB180 batts protected multiple service penetrations. Together, the products create a separation wall protecting the main building against the possibility of a fire starting in the oil tank.”
FIREFLY ® Technical Manager Chris Boam added:“ Early technical involvement helped ensure the installation aligned with relevant FIREFLY ® guidance and available tested details, particularly given the existing site constraints and service penetrations. Krasi’ s regular installer training and strong understanding of our systems contributed to a positive outcome despite the scale of the barrier and restricted working conditions.”
Manufactured from woven and non-woven glass, the FIREFLY ® range is designed to provide resistance to flame and smoke, as well as heat protection, with systems suitable for horizontal and vertical installation.

P C HENDERSON RELAUNCHES POCKET DOOR PRO FIRE RATED WITH ENHANCED CERTIFIED FEATURES
Sliding and folding door hardware manufacturer, P C Henderson, have recently relaunched their popular Pocket Door Pro Fire Rated system, expanding the certification to include a range of new features such as self-closing and soft close functionality.
Designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance and space-saving door solutions alongside enhanced fire safety compliance, Pocket Door Pro Fire Rated is certified to BS EN 1634-1, achieving E30 standards and offering 30 minutes of fire protection when installed with an FD30 rated door as part of a compliant door assembly.
The system is designed for doors weighing up to 120kg and sizes up to 2315mm x 930mm, as well as catering for finished wall thicknesses of 145mm or 150mm after double boarding. The newly certified system incorporates both the pocket door hardware and a certified timber liner kit, complete with intumescent strips to help prevent the spread of fire for up to 30 minutes.
The relaunch further enhances P C Henderson’ s fire-rated offering with the addition of a certified self-close and soft close functionality. The self-close ensures the door returns reliably to the closed position, while the soft close mechanism improves user experience by preventing doors from slamming. A range of flush pulls were also used in the fire test to achieve fire certification.
