For more than 65 years, the Altrincham-based engineering specialist has supported landmark projects across the globe through its expertise in vibration control, acoustic isolation and structural thermal breaks. Founded in 1959, Farrat provides consultancy, design, manufacturing and installation services to clients across the construction and industrial sectors, with a mission to support a better world through engineering solutions that improve building performance, sustainability and user experience.
Building on its continued growth and international success, Farrat expanded its presence into the Germany in 2024, opening a second office and production facility to better serve customers and support growing demand within the German market.
Working with major organisations including Vue Cinemas, Hollywood Bowl and leading universities across the UK, Farrat is helping to transform the performance of buildings by addressing complex vibration, acoustic and thermal challenges.

As one of Manchester’ s most ambitious cultural developments, the venue required exceptional protection from structure-borne vibration and external noise to achieve its world-class acoustic ambitions. Located in a challenging citycentre environment surrounded by railway lines, major roads and neighbouring developments, the project demanded a highly specialised engineering solution.
Farrat designed and supplied bespoke acoustic and vibration isolation systems, including customengineered acoustic bearings that created effective separation between the steel superstructure and the building’ s prefabricated acoustic concrete shell. Working closely with the wider project team, Farrat helped overcome complex engineering challenges and delivered the exceptional acoustic performance required for immersive theatre productions, live music, exhibitions and large-scale cultural events. The project stands as a testament to Farrat’ s ability to support technically demanding, world-class developments where engineering excellence directly enhances the user experience.
