ARCHITECTURAL FOCUS
We conceived Sutton Tower as a study in bridging the old and new Gotham, and through this approach, the goal of timelessness and permanence.
Designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, Sutton Tower exemplifies a modern interpretation of classic New York elegance and reflects Juul-Hansen’ s commitment to enduring quality and timeless beauty. Rising 850 feet, the tower features a Bavarian limestone façade from base to crown, a feat rarely seen in today’ s construction, and harkens back to a bygone era of architecture with its unparalleled craftsmanship. Its exterior is divided into two sections: the lower portion mirrors the charm of the historic surrounding neighbourhood, while the upper portion uses expansive glass to emphasize the impressive scale and light. A champagne-coloured crown with geometric facets adds a dynamic element to the skyline.
“ We conceived Sutton Tower as a study in bridging the old and new Gotham, and through this approach, the goal of timelessness and permanence,” said Thomas Juul-Hansen, Founder and Principal of Thomas Juul- Hansen, LLC.“ Our goal was to bring warmth and human scale to the skyscraper form through natural materials and sculptural detail. The result is a building that feels calm, enduring, and intrinsically connected to its surroundings.”
