Trade shows . Remember them ? Yes , we ’ ve missed them too . Which is why we ’ ve been so looking forward to exhibiting at KBB 2022 ( Birmingham NEC , 6-9 March ).
Sure , we ’ ve found a way to do things differently over the course of the pandemic . There have been virtual shows and digital conferences . We ’ ve kept the wheels of industry turning because we ’ ve had to .
But at Sugatsune , we always say that business is about people . And there ’ s nothing like mixing with and meeting customers , colleagues and suppliers in person at events like KBB . So after two years , it ’ s just great that UK ’ s biggest trade show for the kitchen , bedroom and bathroom sector is back on again , the way it should be .
From our perspective , nothing beats the opportunity to get out to events like KBB to exhibit our product ranges . We take a lot of pride in what we do . It ’ s a genuine pleasure to share our products with people and demonstrate what they can do first-hand .
That ’ s when our commitment to quality and excellence in design truly comes to life .
So what have we got to show for ourselves since the last time we were at KBB ? The pandemic hasn ’ t stopped us developing our range . We ’ ve been busy over the past couple of years . KBB 2022 marks the first opportunity to share the fruits of our labour face to face .
Concealed quality
For example , we now have the most comprehensive set of concealed hinge solutions available on the market . Take the newly extended J95 series for starters . The original J95 heavy duty concealed hinge remains a unique product on the market . It ’ s the only option in its class purpose built for large wardrobe doors weighing up to 40kg .
From that groundbreaking concept , we have since developed a range of products that provide a complete all-round solution for full-length and heavy wardrobe doors . With the J160 , we introduced a wide-angle opening option and added an integrated soft close damper . We ’ ve now included versions with push-to-open motion technology , different colours and cover plates . All manufactured to our exacting premium quality standards and with a lifetime warranty .
On the subject of soft close concealed hinges , the Olympia 360 series delivers best in class precision close control for all sizes of cabinet door . Our Olympia hinges incorporate our patented Lapcon rotary damper with its unique five-point adjustment , allowing you to adjust the counterforce to suit the size and weight and door . With its sleek design , simple installation and three-point mounted adjustment , Olympia 360 hinges represent a premium solution for kitchen and bathroom cabinets .
Similarly , for interior doors , the HES 3D range sets the standard in its class . Because the extended pivot arm used in conventional concealed hinges is limited in how much weight it can bear , we developed the HES for heavy interior doors weighing up to 125kg . The HES concept revolves around a reengineered butt hinge design . The single central pivot that you see when a door is closed is replaced by three to five rotating pivot points that are tucked away neatly in a recess in the door jam . When the door is shut to , you see nothing .
As this innovation has been so successful , we have now extended it to products for smaller , lighter cabinet and wardrobe doors , too . With a total of 10 hinges in the range , HES is now by some distance the most flexible concealed hinge solution on the market , providing a pristine finish and immaculate motion for doors weighing from 9kg all the way up to 125kg .
Lateral thinking
As with our concealed hinges , we now offer more lateral opening solutions than ever . For example , similar to the HES3D range , our LIN-X lateral hinge series now provides trackless opening for sub-5kg cabinet doors all the way up to full-length doors and panels weighing 90kg .
That is all thanks to the development of the LIN-X1000 . Like the J95 before it , the LIN-X1000 is a groundbreaking product in its class because it overcomes the load-bearing limitations of older generation lateral opening hinges . Now , thanks to the engineering breakthrough of the LIN-X1000 , this fabulous safespacing option can be extended beyond kitchen and bathroom cabinets to walkin wardrobes , partitions and doors , all without the need to install a track .
The LIN-X range operates a ‘ push out ’ mechanism , with doors moving outwards and horizontally to tuck neatly against an adjacent surface . Where this is not suitable , we offer the ‘ push in ’ lateral opening MFU range . Perfect for hidden doors and walk in closets . This series has also been extended since we were last at KBB , with the addition of the MFU-1200 suitable for doors weighing up to 70kg .
Looking back , a lot has happened in the course of two years . However , despite all the disruption , we ’ ve kept firmly on course to delivering our main objectives - more choice , more quality , and more innovation in architectural components .
