As we move towards 2022 , it is increasingly important to take stock of the effect the last two years have had on the general health and wellbeing of everyone , especially on our children & young people . Added to challenges this has presented , there are so many convenient distractions such as computer-based play alternatives & mobile devices , which discourage children from physically interacting with each other , & also generally keep them indoors .
Although restrictions have been lifted to a degree & we have more freedoms than when the COVID 19 pandemic started , there is a greater need than ever to encourage everyone , especially children , to go back outside , & to become more active .
As a key play industry manufacturer , we recognise the current huge focus on providing safe play spaces for children all around the UK . Indeed , there are more new play areas being developed than in recent years . This drives innovation within the industry , making producers expand their thinking . This also has a key impact on the types of play equipment being designed , in order to win the next major play project .
Rope play offers a slightly different adventure & challenge for children , considering many playground structures are based on fixed pieces of equipment . There are plenty of skills which can be developed by incorporating rope based equipment , like climbing which involves helping upper body and core strength . As the nature of rope is that it moves during play , it therefore encourages general risk assessment , along with good balance .
Having to make these small decisions undoubtedly helps build confidence through play .
It is refreshing to see the change in play equipment , as well as the inherent challenges of bringing new products to the market . Key worthwhile tasks include maintaining safety for children , delivering interesting products on which to play , offering value for money for customers , along with rationalising their investment & its anticipated return to the manufacturers . All of which keeps the whole industry moving , & developing , whilst simultaneously maintaining a fresh approach .
