KEEN TO GET UP TO SPEED ON DIGITAL CONSTRUCTION ?
A free , three-day programme of seminars and CPD sessions on all aspects of BIM and digital construction is being hosted by the UK BIM Alliance through its partnership with UK Construction Week ( UKCW ) this year .
The first major live event in construction since the end of lockdown , UK Construction Week takes place at the NEC in Birmingham on 5-7 October .
The Digital Construction Hub at UKCW will feature more than 30 presentations over these three days , and over 10 hours of learning .
Highlights include an interactive workshop from Birmingham City University exploring the usefulness of Augmented Reality as a visual design tool for urban design projects , and a talk on how Kier ’ s HMP Five Wells project for the Ministry of Justice has provided the perfect storm for digital advancement ; with an intelligent client , a digitally enabled and committed supply-chain , technological investment and forward-thinking people .
There will be a practical session from one of the leading legal specialists in BIM to review common risks , causes of disputes and how to mitigate them . A deep dive into how Buro Happold has adopted BIM and upskilled its staff will provide very practical advice around skills and development and how they dealt with key legal and contractual risks along the way .
Among many other sessions , there will also be presentations on the UK BIM Framework ’ s standards and guidance , on the national digital twin programme , and on the latest developments from the Seismic II consortium which is working with BIM and digital software vendors to create a new type of platform for the offsite construction of schools , hospitals and other major projects .
The Digital Construction Hub is sponsored by Procore which will also deliver practical case studies and high impact training sessions every day . All seminars are free to attend and will be suitable for many professionals ’ CPD .

UKCW 2021 is expected to attract more than 20,000 specifiers and buyers with at least 300 exhibitors providing launches , demos and offers on more than 6,000 products .
