GIVING YOUR HOME THE EDGE
It was another triumph for the Cheshire-based SONA team as they took home a staggering six CEDIA awards this October . SONA , who specialise in luxury home technology and run by husband and wife team Simon and Nicola Fulstow , were crowned winners in multiple categories for their ‘ The I ’ s Have It ’ integrated home project .
Managing Director Nicola Fulstow says : “ To win six awards is something that makes us immensely proud .” The project took home the accolades for Integrated Home Level III , Best Dressed Rack , Best Documentation , Best Lighting , Life Lived Best at Home and Best Integrated Home ( Global ).
In particular , the SONA team is extremely proud to have earned the Life Lived Best at Home Award . Simon adds : “ This award honours the project that best uses technology to maximise and enhance the client ’ s lifestyle . We don ’ t see ourselves as a technology company – we view our role as creating the optimal environment for the homeowner to thrive in .
“ That ’ s why we always start at the end . We envisage the client living in the home . We get to know in depth how they want to feel when they are relaxing , entertaining , reinvigorating at home . Then we take those feelings and create a situation that allows that to happen in the space .”
Nicola adds : “ It ’ s still sinking in . From Simon being a one-man band 8 years ago to now being Global Winners for the Best Integrated Home . It ’ s still sinking in . Certainly , a much welcome lift for our team who have worked relentlessly , despite the challenges that 2020 has brought the world .”
SONA worked side by side with the client , who contributed many of his own ideas . Simon Fulstow , the Founder and Technical Design Director says : “ Having worked with this client on his former home , we already had an established relationship and that trust meant we had a lot of fun bringing together his ideas and our expertise to create this remarkable home .”
The project featured an integrated 250-circuit lighting system , motorised window treatments , floor to ceiling glazing , a high performance AV system , two media spaces , intuitive controls and one of the only artificial skylights in the country .
At the time of writing , SONA is one of only 15 CEDIA ‘ Members of Excellence ’ worldwide , a coveted status that honours only the best in the field of luxury home technology . “ We ’ re so proud of how far we ’ ve come ,” says Nicola . “ The only way is up .”
