NEW ENTRANCE MATTING SPECIFICATION GUIDES

Maintaining a high level of hygiene , especially now , is a top priority and with entrance matting as your building ’ s first line of defence , INTRAsystems has authored three new specification guides to help architects and interior designers .
The new downloadable guides detail key elements of entrance matting specification , sector specific considerations and product advice , alongside real-life case studies .
Separate guides are available for Schools , Colleges & Universities , Hospitals & Healthcare , and Road , Rail & Air to help architects and interior designers correctly specify entrance matting for these specialised sectors .
SPECIFICATION GUIDANCE
Subject to frequent intense footfall , with multiple entrances and often tightly managed budgets , entrance matting specifications for these sectors are some of the most difficult specifications to get right .
Understanding the traffic volumes and how the different entrances will be used is the very first consideration .
For example , hospital entrance matting needs to be easy to clean and capable of withstanding heavy wheeled loads , so a heavy-duty recessed aluminium matting system is essential . Creating a zonal entrance matting system in healthcare environments will also help retain the maximum dirt and moisture from shoes and wheels .
However , a simple fibre solution may be adequate for less used , secondary entrances .
By using a combination of inserts you can create a range of complimentary entrance matting solutions using a single product .
STANDARDS AND LEGISLATION
Aside from the aesthetics , there are also several standards and regulations your entrance matting specification will need to satisfy including BS 7953:1999 , which advises on the selection , installation and maintenance and BS 8300-2:2018 which covers accessibility .
Whereas universities battling to attract new students might want to use their primary entrance matting to make a bold design statement with creative use of colour and pattern . Entrance matting inserts are available in multiple colours and logos can also be incorporated into the design .
Cycle entrances or doors from muddy school sports fields will benefit from a larger walk-off area using a combination of fibre and rubber inserts or even a more aggressive bristle brush insert .
All this and more is covered in the new Entrance Matting Specification Guides from INTRAsystems .
