EATON HOUSE, THE MANOR SCHOOL, CLAPHAM, LONDON ADAMS+COLLINGWOOD Eaton House The Manor School was a challenging but inspirational project for the Adams+Collingwood Architects team. The Clapham school needed to increase its teaching space while also furthering its ambition to become the greenest school in London. Adams+Collingwood Architects helped the school to progress these aims while also dealing with challenging access restrictions. Access to the construction site was exclusively through a 1.2m wide side passage, meaning that a crane was required to lift in all heavy equipment including the JCB’s and dumper trucks and heavy material loads over the roof of the 4 storey front building. Not only that, but all work had to be completed during the school holidays, so that the establishment could remain fully functioning during term time. This meant adhering to an extremely tight timescale during every phase of the process.
