RENDERPLAS PVC BEADS
SUPPORT SUSTAINABLE
REGENERATION
Strong and sustainable, Renderplas PVC render beads are creating
clean, contemporary details to the rendering of regeneration
projects by Cruden Homes in the East End of Glasgow. Hundreds
of new homes at Crossbank Drive, Rutherglen and Baron’s Vale,
Tollcross are part of an ambitious programme to replace the city’s
1960s tenements and build brand new, vibrant communities with
modern, affordable housing.
In recent years, Glasgow’s East End has seen huge levels of
investment and regeneration, which has transformed the area. New
housing developments are offering high-quality homes based on
low energy design principles and use sustainable materials, which
fits well with Renderplas’s eco-friendly ethos. All Renderplas beads
are made from recycled exterior grade PVC that is both impact
resistant and UV stable.
Glasgow-based G Barton Plastering Ltd has worked on many of the
city’s regeneration projects, including Crossbank Drive and Baron’s
Vale. The company’s expert applicators specialise in applying render
for all types of projects. Managing Director, Garry Barton, says house
builders need to know they can rely on renderers that will do an
excellent job with the right materials, a minimum of fuss and with
maximum efficiency. “And we’re the same,” he says. “We choose
Renderplas PVC beads every time because we need to know that
they’ll turn up exactly when we need them, they’ll perform perfectly
and will stay maintenance-free for the life of the render, reducing
the need for costly maintenance.”
Renderplas corner, bellcast, stop and movement joint beads have
all been used on these important housing developments. They
complement the new homes’ smooth, bright rendered facades
and provide a perfect, long-lasting finish guaranteed not to stain
or corrode over time like galvanised steel beads.
Garry Barton and his team are delighted to be playing such a
significant part in Glasgow’s urban regeneration using products
that, like the new communities, will stand the test of time for
current and future generations. Summing up, he says: “Award-
winning companies like Cruden Homes demand the best products
at a competitive cost and are committed to building energy-
efficient homes. Renderplas beads meet all these requirements,
they’re cost-effective, fit for purpose and as a PVC product they
eliminate cold bridges in external walls that would be caused by
using steel beads, so they tick all the right boxes when it comes to
thermal efficiency too.”
Renderplas Managing Director, Daniel Leedham-Green further
comments “When we designed the UK’s first PVC beads in 1990
we had a vision of sustainably built buildings, using modern
energy efficient materials that could transform the lives of entire
communities. Knowing that companies like Garry’s are out there
doing such a great job in making that happen is very encouraging.”
